Are you a new musician and want to be recognized worldwide? What you would like to do is creating social media profiles and start posting content and music to gain followers and engagement. Having lots of followers don't imply that your engagement would be equally good if the content you post isn't unique and just "another post" you see. For those that equate followers to engagement and success, there are two approaches they will take:
1. If you start following other people without discretion and hope some stick and decide to follow back, you will be very disappointed on many occasions. A small amount of all those people will actually follow you back but if the content is not of their interest, they will most likely unfollow you over time.
2. Buying followers is a must-don't you wouldn't like to do. This may be incredibly tempting to beef up your social profile and make it seem like you're highly desired, but there are 3 major drawbacks to this technique: Bad Optics, Misrepresentation, Impacting the Algorithm
Valuing engagement rather than the number of followers when you just started as an artist is what you should focus on. Be creative, consistent, and have great content, at some point your followers will be equal to your engagement!
