Atlanta music school, The Atlanta Institute of Music and Media, was discussed in a recent article published by Gwinnett Magazine. Gwinnett Magazine is a publication that highlights noteworthy events and institutions in Gwinett County, Georgia.
AIMM is a music college that offers various music degree and certificate opportunities that focus on guitar, vocals, music production, drums, keyboard, or bass. AIMM also offers the Music and Technology Associate Degree which combines valuable music production techniques with an instrument of choice. The article from Gwinnett Magazine informs readers about an Open House that was hosted by the music school on August 21, 2021.
The Open House event showcased some of the work done by its graduating students and offered bite-size samples of its courses to individuals who might be interested in signing up for the program in the future. The event started at noon with a live performance by current students. Later, there was a transition into sample classes such as instrument-based courses (guitar, bass, keyboard, drums, and vocals), studio performances, audio production, surround mixing, and more.
When asked by Gwinett Magazine to describe the unique value proposition of AIMM, its president Nite Driscoll said, “Sound and music is in all our lives, pretty much from when we wake up to when we go to sleep. Atlanta Institute of Music and Media dovetails into all of that – whether it’s film media, episodic television, church performances, live sound for sporting events, or schools, we staff all of it. Whether prospective students’ passions lie in instrument performance, producing original music, or audio production for media and live concerts, AIMM offers an in-depth collegiate curriculum that encompasses a wide-scope of industry-relevant education for working professionals.”
AIMM has an illustrious list of alumni that have gone on to do amazing work in their chosen fields, providing the soundscapes for many popular pieces of media. The work of the institute’s alumni can be instantly recognized by those that keep an ear to the latest happenings in music, television, and movies. Its graduates have gone on to become Grammy Award winners. Its alumni have provided location audio and sound design for popular television series such as “The Walking Dead,” “Real Housewives,” “Stranger Things,” and on sports channels such as Fox Sports and CBS Sports. Its graduates also produce live audio for Atlanta Braves, Atlanta United, and Atlanta Falcons games. Finally, some have even gone on to provide sound reinforcement for nationally famous concert series like Shaky Knees/Beats Festival, Music Midtown, and the Atlanta Jazz Festival.
According to the institute’s mission statement, it aims to provide non-beginning instrument students and recording arts students with the instructional environment necessary to develop their musical talents and acquire the skills demanded of today’s professionals in the music industry.
According to the institute’s vision of its own future, it strives to excel in contemporary music and media arts education with its primary focus being a positive, fulfilling, and rewarding student experience. It aims to accomplish its mission through class and private instruction; audio, video, computer lab instruction, and live clinics featuring today’s most well-known and informative artists and music industry professionals.
One of the reviews for the institute from Niche.com praises the curriculum taught at the college and the support the institute provides for graduates to find jobs in the industry by saying, “The major I took for school is something that gives me knowledge and information that I can use for my career going forward. The facility allowed me to practice until I was great at what I was doing which is music and audio engineering. After being done with school they work with the students to offer jobs and internships.”
Atlanta Institute of Music and Media is located at 2875 Breckinridge Blvd., #700, Duluth, Georgia.
